The 2020 Joint Training Camp for KHMU Leadership (Central Steering Committee Members, Branch Heads, Full-time Executive Members)
The KHMU organized the 2020 Executive Training Camp in Busan from January 7 to 8, to discuss business plans and campaign strategies. The main agenda were particularly about the fight for regularization of non-regular jobs in national university hospitals; and reinstatement of fired workers and union normalization at the Yeungnam University Medical Center. The participants committed to organizing all-out struggles to tackle the challenges. At the training camp, President Na, the leadership, the Central Steering Committee, branch heads at 200 workplaces nationwide, full-time executives (300 in total) were present to make presentations, deliver lectures and take part in breakout discussions.
“Last year, we were very successful in the fight to stop opening of a for-profit hospital in Jeju and to enact the Health and Medical Personnel Law. The changes, however, have not yet been felt by union members in their workplaces. Our brothers and sisters are still struggling from staffing shortage and abusive verbal and physical violence. This year, with the power of 70,000 union members and with the wisdom of leadership, we will be confident and hopeful in solving those on-site problems. In addition, we will make this year full of hope by continuing to fight to regularize non-regular jobs, to make hospitals where no one would be fired, to increase the number of union members to 100,000, to revolutionize workplaces, to renew organizations and to innovate medical services,” said President Na.
