UNI Global Union Statement on MERS in South Korea

 

 

UNI first and foremast extends its support to the private hospital workers such as nurse, cleaners, caregivers, and doctors, who are currently working around the clock, in difficult circumstances, to care for those who have contracted the MERS virus.

 

UNI reiterates the strong calls from our affiliate the Korean Health and Medical workers’ Union to: immediately strengthen the stands and conditions within Korean health care facilities to deal with the MERS crisis as it stands; to ensure that staffing numbers are sufficient at this time of crisis; and to ensure proper investment in planning for disease outbreaks and crisis is undertaken by the south Korean government alongside all health stakeholders, inclouning unions, in other to avoid such crises in the in the future.
