Two fired nursed have been on the roof to protest for 50days.
To put an end to the 13year long struggles against the crackdown on trade union by the Yeungnam University Medical Center, two fired nurses have been on the 70meter high roof for 50days now on August 19. As the weather is getting hotter and hotter, the roof protest site’s temperature has peaked even at 49 degrees Celsius.
However, the two fired workers’ passion and firm commitment have never been fading away. They have continued to struggle.
Even time has failed to stop the passionate commitment to struggles of the workers at the Yeungnam University Medical Center. Everyday, the workers organize picketing protests during the morning/evening commute hours and lunch breaks while holding a protest cultural event in the evening. Every Tuesday, they promote their demands at the lobby of the medical center and on Fridays, they engage many other workers and supporting groups outside the hospital in the local community. Every Wednesday, in rotation, the KHMU’s regional head office members visit the medical center for solidarity. The KHMU plans to hold a press conference in front of the Blue House on August 27th, to call for a resolution of the current situations and relevant issues. Leadership members at the KHMU nationwide will join in a protest at the lobby of the medical center on September 9 and 10. They will go into an all-night sit-in protest at the lobby.
